Frederick Grant Banting

Frederick Grant Banting (n. Alliston, Ontario, Canadá, el 14 de noviembre de 1891 - † Musgrave Harbor, Terranova, 21 de febrero de 1941). Médico e investigador canadiense. Estudió en la universidad de Toronto y fue médico militar durante la Primera Guerra Mundial. Posteriormente fue ayudante de fisiología en la Universidad de Ontario Occidental y a partir de 1921 profesor en la Universidad de Toronto. En 1921, descubrió con Charles Best la hormona de la insulina. Por este descubrimiento le fue otorgado en 1923 el Premio Nobel de Fisiología y Medicina, compartido con John James Richard Macleod.
